Reg and I are considering heading towards Warburton, as the next stage of our tour through Victoria.

There is a heap to do in and around Warburton.

  • Water wheel in the middle of town. This is the information centre too. Enjoy the displays they have, depicting features of the area.
  • Ada tree
  • Mt Donna Buang Rainforest gallery
  • La La falls
  • Aqueduct Walk
  • Picnic to Upper Yarra Reservoir
  • Walk into History at Big Patts Creek
  • backstairs track
  • Explore the bridges in Warburton.
  • enjoy the town
  • Markets, eateries and craft abound!
Reg and I considered purchasing an onsite van beside the Yarra River at Warburton and we went to look at some but were so turned, off by how mouldy all of the second hand vans were.

There were new units that might have been suitable but we felt were too expensive for us, as we only wanted a residence for summer. With a new van or unit, we could have installed basement dehumidifier, in the actual van to keep it mould free while we were away for all of the winter and most of the cusp season.

I loved the area, around the river in Warburton. Reg was not as convinced and eventually we found our current summer retreat in the, northern Victoria where we have so far, had drier winters and our only problem so far is the field mice that want to come in out of the fields during the cold winter and our vacant house looks attractive to them. Therefore, where we live now, for summer, we do not need a dehumidifier, just good neighbours keeping the place, ‘lived in’, and some strategically placed mouse bait.

Exercise DVD's 03/06/2010

Picture
Tomorrow I plan to shop for my week 2 of my 12-week body transformation menu plan food.  I am also hoping to find the set of three exercise, DVD’s, put out by Michelle Bridges. These DVD’s usually sell for around $29.95 but are currently unavailable in many places.

Monday morning I will make Cyber Monday, as I go on line to try to find out where I can buy these DVD's and find out who has the best price.

For anyone who is trying to buy these exercise DVD’s, I have been told that some Coles stores, have them and JB in Chapel Street in Melbourne have them for $5. each.

Wii Jogging 02/27/2010

Picture
This is my husband Reg having heaps of fun discovering he can Wii jog.

He was so thrilled when he got his 'Roaring Fire', rating :-).

We have brought the Wii Fit Plus and the Biggest lower  work out for Wii , away with us in the caravan. :-).

Photos are of our dog Indigo, of her lead, in an off leash allowed area, Reg with the doggy bags in hand, so we leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but photos and memories.

I went for a swim in the solar heated pool I have had near to myself all week and a woman comes and sits of the step with a freshly lit cigarette and her beer bottle and starts smoking and dropping ash in the pool.

Then we head to the beach to find some tranquillity and had a wonderful time, though my poodle Indigo, had such fun frolicking and kicking up the sand, you just about needed safety glasses, to come near her.

Indigo did her job in the sand. Reg picked it up, in a plastic bag and we carried it away. As we walked along the beach there was a baby’s disposable nappy rolled up and just left laying there in the sand. L. How gross.

Leaving the beach to get back to the car, there was a man looking at one of my sign written pictures of a horse on my car, and telling me, ‘something was wrong with it’. As an uninvited critique, that was in my opinion, rude.

OK, I am acting like ‘a touchy artist’. I was, already set off, in a not so great mood by having missed my swim because I would not share it with cigarette smoke and ash.  Yes, it is times like this that I love the bush more than the tourist locations. Tomorrow we head inland, and hope to find a quiet spot close to nature to reclaim the tranquillity we had most of the week before the minority of ugly tourists hit the town to spoil it for others and the locals.  Friday night in the tourist town, I think we stayed one night to long.

We have had a great week, but we do tend to keep to ourselves a lot and enjoy our own company and natural surroundings rather than the company of bombastic people who critique your art work uninvited or who pollute nature.

As Reg  and I travel these days we love seeing how travel and tourism has opened up, not only to all age groups from seniors to young back packers from around the world but also to people of all abilities.

There are caravans for the disabled, such as one, I reviewed in my ‘gone bush blog’, and even boating is now the domain of the disabled, thanks to mobility products.

You can organize to take your own mobility equipment on holiday with you or book special tours where this equipment is provided, as a part of the service. Many cruise ships provide a wide range of mobility products, on board.

To search for different types of mobility aids and compare the function and price, take a look at mobility compare , it’s is a great place to start if you have a need to research such items

Back on dry land, these are a great mobility aid.

Bronze sculpture, of Great Egrets at Seaberry Park, Phillip Island.
The great egret is considered, an endangered bird and the wet lands of Phillip Island form a habitat for these beautiful birds.

There has been a bit of activity around this area today as I have seen quite a bit of motorhome towing it doesn’t seem to worry the birdlife, they are very used to people and vehicles. I see many of the locals come out to feed them.

Hope from Ashes
The Hope From Ashes auction will run online starting on the date of the benefit concert with new items being put up daily over the next week.  This online auction will raise awareness and funds and give people the opportunity to contribute and help Toodyay people who are rebuilding after the fire.

We have tried to gather together a range of diverse and high quality items and services that in some way reflect the diversity and creativity of the Toodyay community. In finding a gift for yourself you will be giving to the Toodyay community and we hope the excitement and high energy of the auction will be uplifting and inspiring in its way.

The auction has the Hope From Ashes flavour celebrating and demonstrating the generosity, positivity and support that has flowed so readily for and within the Toodyay community. One of my favourite buys on EBay was a spa bath and spa filter  but to win something and help charity is an extra bonus.

As well as people from Perth many local Toodyay businesses and individuals have also contributed to the auction, some although deeply affected by the fires through loss of home or workplace. Artworks, craft items, trips away, fantastic meals and even life coaching sessions, massages, motoring items, clothing and collectors plates are just a few of the amazing items we can offer you. The list grows every day so “no napping” or you may miss a fabulous item…which is just what you need!

We hope you will enjoy the items on offer and we hope you have fun whilst you bid big as we pull together to raise much needed funds for the survivors of the Toodyay Bushfires. If you wish to make a donation in person, please use the following Bendigo Bank details. Thank you.
