I love the ceramic tile, entry to the charming courtyard garden. It was midsummer, when I took these photos and the crisp blue of the tiles and agapanthus, white roses, water feature and the lush green of foliage made the garden look cool and inviting.

I write more travel related blog posts in my gray-nomad.com 'Gone Bush' blog and more art related posts in my 'A Creative Life', blog at http://www.kathy-shell.net

Dangerous Art! 01/23/2010

Picture
When is art dangerous?

When does artwork require the viewer to take out life insurance ?

The Rite of Spring, commonly referred to by its French title, Le Sacre du Printemps,   caused a riot when it was, first performed in 1913. People began to protest as soon as they heard the unfamiliar complex rhythmic structures, timbres, and use of dissonancein the opening notes of the Russian composer, Igor Stravinsky’s, innovative, music. The powerful, choreography and expressive, sensual dancing of Vaslav Nijinsky disturbed the first audience.

Do you feel art should shock and be innovative?

Do you feel art should be peaceful familiar and beautiful?

Do you feel, ‘anything goes’, in the name of art?

I would love to read your comments.

This web site is called functionalART and this blog is about 'Useful Stuff' and there isn't anything more useful than a well maintained toilet block, situated in a pleasant park where you can stretch your legs and take a break from the drive, A place with ample parking, mid way on a long drive.  When the toilets have been turned into a work of art, I think this has to be Functional art at its best.
Yea River Wetlands Park

The Yea River Wetlands Park is on the Yea River behind Cummins Reserve.

The wetlands comprise of a series of billabongs and a branch of the Yea River formed through channel changes in the river, many years ago, before white settlement.

The special beauty of the Yea River wetland is that it is right on the edge of town, you will see it from the road as you drive through the town.

A wetlands walking trail has been developed that is accessible to all fitness levels

Yea River Wetlands Walk brochures are available at the Yea Visitor Information Centre on 5797 2663.
